Materials
Dahl Studio works with materials such as lava stone, terracotta, and stoneware to tailor each project to its specific aesthetic and functional needs. By combining craftsmanship with flexible production, we create solutions where the choice of material enhances the architectural expression and the character of the space.
Lava
Glazed lava stone is a unique natural material made from solid French volcanic rock. The stone is extracted in large blocks and cut into slabs, which can then be shaped, glazed, and fired into durable and refined products. By combining the raw strength of the stone with the depth and nuance of ceramic glaze, lava stone is ideal for tiles, countertops, and sinks, each piece custom-made to suit the specific needs of the project.
Lava stone is extremely hard-wearing, making it suitable for virtually all types of projects and applications, both indoors and outdoors, on walls and floors, even in high-traffic areas.
Terracotta
Glazed terracotta is a traditional and versatile natural material made from fired clay, which is shaped, dried, then glazed and fired again. The material combines a warm, vibrant texture with high durability and can be customized in terms of color, format, and surface finish.
Terracotta is particularly well-suited for tiles and decorative elements in both modern and classic interiors. Each piece is often handmade, giving the material a unique tactile quality and subtle variation. Terracotta’s flexibility in shape and color makes it an ideal choice with many possibilities, including use on floors in low-traffic areas such as bathrooms.
